Art cabinets for day-care centres in Oulu

Oulu Art Museum's art cabinets are artist-made miniature exhibitions for children. The cabinets, provided on loan for day-care centres, come with an educational activity pack produced by the artist together with museum educators. The materials support activities inspired by art for use in an environment that is familiar for the children.

The art cabinets can be reserved free of charge by day-care centres of the City of Oulu. The next art cabinet loans will become available for booking in April or May 2024. Currently, Juho Könkkölä’s Forest Folk and Ilona Kivijärvi’s Sunflower Land cabinets are touring the day-care centres. Next autumn there will be touring Ilona Kivijärvi´s and Tiina Seppälä´s art cabinets. The loan period of each art cabinet is two weeks. The loan periods are assigned to the day-care centres considering the transport distances and the requests of other users. Oulu Art Museum’s museum technicians will transport the art cabinet to and from the day-care centre in a van. The personnel of the day-care centre oversee displaying and storing the art cabinet and for ensuring the safety of the artwork.
