Sasu Ripatti (b. 1976, Oulu) lives and works in Hailuoto. Since 1997, Ripatti has exhibited his work internationally in venues including Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, ICA Tokyo and Ars Electronica. Konemetsä was created during 2024 with the support of the Kone Foundation. During the process, Ripatti was struck by the silence of the forest and the sound pollution left behind by human animals. He recorded more than 200 hours of footage, trying to find quiet moments.
