Aira and Kalevi Heinänen, who have passionately collected and supported naïve art for decades, donated their foundation to Oulu Art Museum in 1987.
The collection emphasises naïvist Finnish artists from the 1970s and the 1980s, but also features works from earlier decades. The work of Enni Idi of Padasjoki is represented by approximately 40 oil paintings depicting life in the countryside.
