The Finnish Fine Art Foundations association was established in 2006 by six foundations under a slightly different name. Since then, the association has been joined by five more foundations. The current member foundations are Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Fortum Art Foundation, Föreningen Konstsamfundet, Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation, Lönnström Art Museum, Nordea Art Foundation Finland, OP Art Foundation, Pro Artibus Foundation, Signe and Ane Gyllenberg Foundation, UPM-Kymmene Cultural Foundation and Åbo Akademi University Foundation.
Some of the foundations focus on managing their existing art assets, while others are still adding to their collections. In addition to the visual arts, the member foundations support arts including literature and music and award grants for scientific projects. The art collections of the member foundations are at least partly displayed in permanent offices and exhibition spaces, some of which are museum buildings or home museums.
Since 2017, Finnish Fine Art Foundations has been showing its collections in themed exhibitions in art museums around Finland. In Northern Finland, the foundations have previously visited only Rovaniemi in 2018. The exhibition in Oulu also includes the latest addition to the association, the Föreningen Konstsamfundet.
