Oulu Art Museum’s travelling exhibition consists of Hanna Kaisa Vainio’s framed woodcut prints. The exhibition reflects on how people find, end up, and are rooted in different places. The pieces have a strong connection to Kainuu.
The concept of the spirit of place (genius loci in Latin) refers to the specific mood, atmosphere, or characteristic of a space that makes it unique. It can also mean a feeling that was born due to spending time or a specific experience in a specific place.
The travelling exhibition has received a grant from the Finnish Heritage Agency.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOURING EXHIBITION
The exhibition, which is available to municipalities in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu, can be booked for one month using the booking form. The exhibition can be booked in a library, gallery or other supervised exhibition space. The exhibition is also available to self-service libraries. The exhibit is easily movable and will be transported around the provinces by Post. The exhibition is free of charge in the North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu regions.
The exhibition pack includes 14 framed woodcut presses, exhibition text, list of works, poster, and pedagogical ideas to help explore the exhibition. Frame sizes vary.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hanna Kaisa Vainio (born 1984) works in the field of art and culture. She pursues her own art and works as an art educator. Vainio is interested in locationality and different (natural) materials as the basis for her work. Vainio is an active member of the Mustarinda Society in Hyrynsalmi. She holds a Bachelor of Culture and Arts degree in the field of textiles, a Master’s in textile art, and a Master’s in art education.
